Easy Stepping and Cheese Quesadillas

Today our lives changed once again as Finn seemed to figure out this walking thing. He has been taking a few steps for a a couple weeks now and would even get 5 or 6 steps shuffled together before he fell. Today, however, he has taken off. I took him to Stratton's Family Reading Night at the public library and looked up to see him walking off across the room.

Here's some footage of him walking back and forth across the living room. I'm not sure why he was going back and forth. He was snacking on a cheese quesadilla so maybe he was trying to burn off some calories.

Gap Ad

We bought this rediculously expensive hat at Gap for Finn. Okay, so it was only $15, but that seems rediculously expensive to me for a hat that will only fit him for a few months. However, there was no passing it up once we saw how adorable he is in it.
I actually took this picture by reaching over the seat while we were driving down the road and the camera was upside down. I should clarify, Wes was driving. It came out so cute.

Preparing to move

For those of you who don't know, we are going to be moving in the next couple weeks. We are buying the "boyhood home of Wesley T. Miller," as Wes likes to call it. Kandy is going to buy our house so we're doing a house swap. Needless to say, this pending move has kept us very busy. We have been spending most of our spare time working on the new house. Wes has spent nearly every evening and weekend at the house for the past couple weeks. We have stripped wallpaper, refinished the floors and painted all the bedrooms, painted the small half bathroom downstairs and are now in the process of tiling that room and the kitchen. The dining room has also been stripped of wallpaper, but we porbably won't paint in there until after we move in. And by "we" I don't just mean Wes and myself, we have had LOTS of help from friends and family - including one day where several of the Miller family cousins swooped in and worked furiously. Thanks to everyone who has helped!

Finn has spent a lot of time in his new play yard (or crate, as cousin Corinne liked to call it) in the middle of different rooms as we paint (very low odor) and clean. He has not been overly enthusiastic about it though. When he is there with us we get most of our work done when he is napping and then have to take turns hanging out with him while the other works.

Our goal is to move Thanksgiving weekend and then have a housewarming/Finn's birthday party the following weekend. Sound a bit crazy?

Happy Halloween Cowboy!

We bought some cute little boot booties before Finn was born and they were the inspiration for his Halloween costume. Before we decided he would be a cowboy, I bought this skeleton outfit online. He wore it to daycare on Friday. It has a hat that goes with it that says, "Bad to the bone." Wes and Finn are outside on the porch and there is a HUGE spider on the screen door. Can you spot it to the right of Finn's head? Very Halloweeny.

Enjoying a Halloween treat. One sucker was all he got. That was MORE than enough since Wes realized that Finn got the sucker off the stick and he had to put his finger in his mouth and dig it out to avert a choking incident. Scared the heck out of us, but Finn didn't seem to mind.
