Our Family Grows...

I guess this will be my final post on this blog. I will be starting a new blog for our new family of four (taking name suggestions for the new blog...). Although I have become a blog slacker in recent months, I am really glad that I have this record of Finn's life. It is so nice to look back and see how he has grown. I certainly have been better at keeping up the blog than I have been at updating his baby book.

We started our final day as a family of three the same way we start everyday - snuggling in bed and reading books. After a busy day of work, we had a yummy family dinner (steaks and red potatoes) and then went to Sidney Dairy Bar for dessert. Finn also helped us open gifts for the baby from my wonderful colleagues and he even received a gift (a Color Wonder clipboard, markers, and coloring book - thanks Janelle). Finn went right to sleep after his bath not really understanding how his life is going to change tomorrow. He has brought so much happiness and joy to our lives and we know he will be a fantastic (Finntastic?) big brother.

Pregnancy #2

I have neglected posting about this pregnancy. It hasn't been intentional. I've just been bad at posting this summer. Honestly, I am only on the computer when Finn is in bed and usually once he is in bed I just want to do nothing. But alas, I only have 6 days left in this pregnancy so I figured I better recap the last 9 months...

The beginning of this pregnancy was very similar to my pregnancy with Finn. I had all the same symptoms, just earlier and stronger. Heartburn was the very first pregnancy symptom and is the reason I took a prenancy test. I was also super hungry right away and had strong food aversions (but no real morning sickness).

The second trimester went well. I was definitely tired and worn down, but I was also running around after Finn.

The 3rd trimester has been pretty easy. I have felt good and baby has been a little tap dancer and flip flopper. Wes likes to watch my stomach bounce and jump. We don't know how much Finn understands what is going on. He says baby when he touches my stomach and gives it kisses, but then he pulls his shirt up and says baby, too. We have been talking about the baby as we have been getting out clothes and setting up the nursery. He refers to it as the baby's room, but who knows if he really understands it all. I guess we'll see on Wednesday

More Lazy Days

Swing! Finn started yelling "Go Cubbies" after he hit a ball and would take off running. I swear I did not coach him to do that.

We just thought his soggy bottoms were funny. Pants on the ground?

We spent several days getting together with the other kids from daycare. Our last outing was to Sholem Pool. Finn went down this slide a million times.

Alas, summer must come to an end. Finn is enjoying a final slice of Antonio's on the quad before mom and dad head back to work and the students take over campus.

It certainly was a Finnomenal summer! We were sad to see it end, but are looking forward to the new "adventures" that fall will bring.

Summer Days

Summer was all fun and games for me and Finn. Lots of trips to parks, lots of yummy food, lots of visits to the libraries, and lots of time just hanging out. Wes had a good amount of fun, too, but he also worked a lot. He farmed and spent countless hours working on the yard and painting the house. His hard work certainly paid off and the house looks great.

Finn loved playing in his pool even when the water was freezing cold. Now he even likes to turn on the cold water in the bathtub.

Trains, trains, trains. Finn certainly loves playing with trains. We spent extra hot days playing with trains at either the Urbana Free Library or Barnes & Noble.

Off to Baltimore

Wes and I decided to head to Baltimore after DC mainly because I hadn't seen a game at Camden yet. We researched the area and found that there were great things to do in the area for kids. We stayed just a couple blocks from the ballpark and less than a mile from the Inner Harbor area.

After we checked into the hotel, we walked down to the Inner Harbor to check things out.

Later, Finn was hangin out in the drawer of the side table eating crackers.

We spent the next morning at The National Aquarium. It was a great place to spend the day. These tubes had bubbles flowing through them and we could barely drag Finn away from them.

He also really liked these bright pictures that showed all things water related.

There was a nice interactive kid area that had games to play and a poster to color.

After a nap, we headed back to Inner Harbor to this fountain. There were a million kids there and Finn was pretty hesitant at first, but he eventually got in there and got soaked.

Keeping book like all good baseball fans do. We got him his own scorecard and pencil so that he wasn't trying to wrestle Wes's away from him.

I had to take a picture of the moon because it was a great source of entertainment for Finn during the last part of the game. He loves to point out the moon in books and makes us draw it for him all the time. He had a great time playing hide and seek with the moon as it kept disappearing behind clouds.

Game over - Baltimore lost to the Marlins. They've lost a lot this season. I love this picture of Wes and Finn.

We had a great trip, but were ready to get home. We ended up driving straight through and Finn did a pretty good job considering the length of the trip (although I did resort to downloading a few Yo Gabba Gabba episodes on my phone to pacify him). He certainly is a good little traveler.
